Joomla Bay Design specialize in basic low-cost website applications that will give you a presence on the Internet without costing a fortune. Who Are We?

So exactly who is Joomla Bay Design? JBD is actually just one person, Penn Wooding, a 40-year-old disabled wheelchair user living in Torbay Devon. I have been constructing websites for about nine years. I first started using Joomla in 2006 and very rarely use any other software for my websites nowadays. I have created numerous websites for my own personal use, some of them are extremely active and receive many hundreds of hits every day. I then moved onto creating websites for friends and family, some of which are online shopping websites. Computers are my main hobby, so creating websites is not just a convenient way of making money, it is something I actually enjoy, creating an online presence that people all around the globe can visit.

The Website Package

  • Domain Name (your domain is included in the price if you don't already have one)
  • Construction of website and SEO
  • Standard Hosting Package (Hosting for one year is included in the price, there after hosting for one year will be approximately £85.00)
Whereas we normally using a standard hosting package, you may need specialized hosting depending on the content of your website. 

Unlike many web design companies that charge a small fortune for hosting even the smallest website, you have two options when it comes to hosting your website. You can either let us create a hosting package, or you can sign up with a hosting package that we recommend and then we will take control, all you have to do is make sure you pay your hosting fees once a year.

Creating web packages with their own individual hosting plan means you can easily take control of your complete package without having any ties to us.

Website Construction

Constructing a website is not an overnight process. Not only do we have to create a website that will capture your guests imagination and make them want to stay on your site rather than looking for someone else, but we also have to ensure that the website can be found on the major search engines.

The first thing that we do when asked to undertake a website project is take a look at our clients competitors. This will give us a good idea of how other people are doing things.

  • How are they targeting clients?
  • What sort of keywords are they generating?
  • Have they got good search engine ranking?
  • Can we improve on what they are doing?

We can either meet the client, or correspond by phone/e-mail in order to discuss exactly how you want your website constructing and the sort of content you want including.  It may be easier to list in detail everything you want on the website in an e-mail to us.

Before you go to the expense of having a website constructed, ask yourself a few very basic question

  • Will a website actually generate any business for you?
  • How many other businesses will you be be competing against online?
  • Are you able to find a niche in the market?

The client will be required to supply content and images for their website. To save on cost, it would be best if you supply fully edited content. We would prefer it if you supply us with unedited images, ie. an image straight from your digital camera.


All websites are submitted to the major search engines.

Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO as it is often abbreviated to is the art of tailoring a website so people can find it on the search engines. This is often the most time-consuming part of developing a website because of the nature of how search engines work. You can rest assure that we pay a lot of attention to SEO when developing a website and will strive to get the website onto the first page of Google, although we can't guarantee this.  We may monitor a website after completion and if necessary make small changes until the website can be found on the major search engines.

How Much?

It is difficult to give you an exact price for a website until we know exactly what you want. The following prizes will give you an indication of our pricing fees
  • 1 - 5 Page Website Inc Contact Form + 1 year hosting - £285.00
  • 6 + Page Website Inc Contact Form, Photo Gallery, Guestbook etc. + 1 year hosting - £POA
  • Online Shopping Cart Website - From £1000
We will ask for 25%  up front and the remainder of payment on completion

What Happens Then?

The software we use has a login system which enables you to gain access to the administrative side of the website. You don't need any additional software to work on a Joomla website, you can gain access to the administrative side of your site from any computer as long as you know your username and password. Once the website is completed you have two choices. You can either let us control your website and make alterations and changes when necessary, or you can take charge of the website completely. Whichever choice you make, we will always be here if something goes wrong.
